Pricing

How Dovetail is priced

Subscription is based on the number of employees you put into Dovetail, not your total company headcount. Most customers start with the population generating the case volume and extend from there.

A firm number comes from a scoping call once the scope is clear. Below is exactly how you get there, so you know what you are signing up for.

Three things worth knowing

You pay for the population you put in

Not your total company headcount. A global organization can start with one region, one business unit or one HR function and extend when it makes sense.

Employee population in Dovetail

Users are unlimited in what you license

Adding people to a team already covered does not change your subscription. Adding a module you have not licensed does increase your subscription.

No per seat charge

Implementation is fixed, not estimated

The scoping call produces a price and a timeline you can take to finance, and neither moves afterwards. It is a real piece of work, which is why it sits later in the process rather than on a first call.

No moving estimates

How you get to a number

Four steps, and you can stop at any of them

Pricing pages usually stop at contact us. Here is the actual sequence, so you can judge the effort against the decision you are trying to make.

A first conversation

Your scope, your volumes and what you are actually trying to fix. Around thirty minutes, and it is the only step you commit to up front.

Step one

Your own numbers

We send you the assessment so you can cost your current process independently, using your headcount and volumes rather than ours.

Step two

A demo on your workflow

Run against a real inquiry type your team handles today, not a generic demo environment. More than one session if other people in your organization need to see it.

Step three

The scoping call

Establishes what implementation involves and produces a fixed price and a fixed timeline you can take to finance.

Step four

Building the internal case

Most people asking about price are building a case for someone else

If that is you, the assessment gives you the number that argument needs. It costs your current way of working from your own headcount and volumes, scores your service delivery maturity out of 100, and shows what standing still costs you over the next three years. You leave with a report and an editable deck you can put in front of a CFO. It does not price Dovetail. That comes from the scoping call, and the report is yours whether you talk to us or not.

  • A named critical business issue: the objective you are measured on, and what is putting it at risk
  • Maturity score out of 100, with every dimension scored against a four level standard and grouped into capability areas
  • Recoverable HR time a year, as a base to upside range, built from your own headcount, volumes and industry
  • The cost of waiting, cumulative across years one, two and three
  • The three highest impact moves, ranked, and the problems sitting behind them
  • A nine page executive PDF and a thirteen slide editable deck, both ready instantly

About five minutes. Recoverable means HR time you could redeploy, not guaranteed cash, and Dovetail license cost is not included: this measures your current position, not our price.
