This service has been marked for deletion (Article # 269)

Problem:
If you uninstall a Windows service (such as SEC.NET or Rulemanager) , it may still show in the Services console (services.msc)
If you try to start it, stop it or uninstall it again (using sc.exe /delete) you get an error:
"This service has been marked for deletion".
Resolution:
This Microsoft KB article ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823942 ) suggests you restart the computer. This isn't always necessary.
If you simply close the Services console, all services marked for deletion will be deleted.
