fcSDK Installer ends prematurely then uninstall fails to remove fcSDK (Article # 235)

View products that this article applies to.

Problem:

The fcSDK installer through version 2.2.2 requires that the .Net 1.1 framework be present, although it doesn't properly verify this requirement.
If only the .Net 2.0 framework is present the installer will fail and then become 'wedged' and fail to be uninstalled or re-installed.

As of fcSDK version 2.3, the fcSDK installer will verify that .NET 1.1 SP1 is installed. If .NET 1.1 SP1 is not installed, then the fcSDK installer will notify the user, and prevent the install from continuing.

Resolution:

First you need to remove the 'wedged' fcSDK from the Windows Installer Packages database. Next you must install the .Net 1.1 framework.

To remove fcSDK from the Windows Installer database you can use the Microsoft Installer Clean-up Utility.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

1) Install this utility and run msicuu.exe.
2) Select fcSDK from the list of installed packages and click on Remove.

Next Install the .Net 1.1 framework:

then Service Pack 1:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=A8F5654F-088E-40B2-BBDB-A83353618B38

Then re-run the fcSDK installer.
