SHRM National is fast
approaching, bringing with it SHRM Kickball! Dovetail Software and Dice are sponsoring the game on Sunday, June 16th at 7pmin Grant Park, with proceeds benefiting No Kid Hungry.
Within your Clarify / Dovetail schema, there’s a concept of an Optimized View. This is really an implicit feature of a view, but if you’re aware of it, and understand how they work, you can use it to your advantage. An optimized view happens when you have a join to a table, but the only field that you’re including from the joined in table is the objid field, and the relation type from the main table to the joined table is a OTOP or MTO.
is, deeply embedded into our collective psyche, the drive to do good.
Specifically, good for others, for those who can’t do for themselves. And
good in a way that can change someone’s life. Last June, at the SHRM
Annual conference in Atlanta, Dovetail sponsored a small hockey game in the
park. Aside from earning the players some strange looks, the game
generated hundreds of dollars for Atlanta Mission. You can read more here if you like. This
year, we have had more time to plan and more people asking to be part of the
event. We’re proud to share that we will be repeating our event, though
in a different venue and format.
A few months ago, I demonstrated using a custom raplet with Rapportive and Gmail to bring Clarify / Dovetail information into the context of your email. As I mentioned, I initially hacked together some code as a proof-of-concept. I’ve cleaned up the code a bit, and have made it available on Github: https://github.com/gsherman/raplet
Memorial Day, among other things, signals the start of the late spring/early summer conference season. For those of us that speak and attend, it also marks the last time our laundry will be caught up and in one place. I fully expect that from now until July, my wardrobe will be split evenly between my closet, my suitcase and the cleaners. It is, I think, the most wonderful time of the year.
I had the pleasure of attending IQPC's HR Shared Services and Outsourcing Summit this week. It was a wonderful collection of HRSSC leaders from around the contry coming together to talk about their challenges, their successes and their plans for future improvements. These are some of my favorite HR teams to be around, as they have embraced Lean philosophy and data driven performance like few other groups.
The 13th HR Shared
Services and Outsourcing Summit is next week, May 13th – May 15th,
in Chicago and we are thrilled to be sponsoring it for the first time. Designed
for executives in all stages of HR transformation, this is the community’s
trusted event for peer-to-peer sharing, workshops and mix-and-match sessions
based on your HR services delivery model’s maturity level and overall business
New versions of Dovetail Agent and Admin are in the works to allow compatibility with Internet Explorer versions 9 and 10.Although there are going to be more reasons to upgrade to the latest version, some Dovetail Agent and Admin users may consider making the older versions they currently use IE9 or IE10 compatible while remaining existing compatibility with IE8 intact.
While discussing Dovetail SchemaEditor recently, a question came up around deletes (drops), i.e. How do you delete a column using SchemaEditor, as it doesn’t seem like SchemaScript supports deletes. First, a little background. SchemaEditor works with Data Dictionary files and with SchemaScript files.
As you may have noticed, recently many of our educational resources have focused on HR Shared Services and building a successful HR service delivery model. Our latest eBook and last week's webinar discussed key components necessary for creating a service delivery model that improves efficiency, lowers costs, and gives HR professionals the tools
they need to be a strategic player within their organizations. However, one important consideration that we haven't yet discussed and will cover in our next webinar is how to centralize HR, yet still connect with employees across the globe on a local level.
