"US-based IT solutions provider Amdocs has decided to go slow with its hiring in the US and UK as the markets have matured, instead choosing to add more people at its new India centre in Gurgaon. The company will hire 250 people for its new center over the next two months."

"AllState Financial has the large number of data sources typical of a large corporation. Each line of business has its own administrative systems and mergers and acquisitions also create new data sources. Data could be common across these systems and each could use a different kind of database storage or MS Office files. Defining the systems of record is challenging and data coordination is very difficult."

"Business metadata can be contained in all sorts of things like data models, XML and database schemas, process definitions, ERP/CRM etc. Not clear who created what or which ones are 'right' and things like mergers and acquisitions may create new problems. There is no “right” answer either in terms of an approach or in terms of a piece of metadata - context is really important."

"The fact of the matter is that the notion and practice of SOA is expanding, but every so slowly when compared to other technology trends. This is a good thing, if you ask me, considering the complexity and scope of SOA, and the good or bad impact it can have on a business."
